A note on certification transparency. Both GOTS and OCS certifications are held by Stanley/Stella — the Belgian manufacturer of the blank garments we use. MOEBEER is the brand; we don't hold the certifications directly. The products are certified. We'll always be straight about where the chain of accountability sits.

GOTS

Global Organic Textile Standard

The leading worldwide standard for organic textiles. GOTS certification guarantees that the cotton in our organic garments is grown without genetically modified seeds or hazardous chemicals — and that traceability is maintained across the entire supply chain, from raw fibre through to the finished garment, with transaction certificates issued at every production stage. GOTS also covers social criteria, including fair wages and safe working conditions throughout the certified supply chain.

Content Verification + Traceability

OCS

Organic Content Standard

Where GOTS covers the full supply chain ecosystem, OCS specifically verifies and tracks the percentage of organic material in a finished product — ensuring the organic content claim on the garment is accurate and independently audited. OCS provides a verified chain of custody for the organic fibre from source through to the final product, so when a garment states it contains organic cotton, that claim has been independently checked at every handoff point along the way.

What it means in practice

From field to finished garment —
what GOTS + OCS actually covers

No genetically modified seeds

The cotton crop is grown from non-GMO seed. GOTS prohibits the use of GMOs at every stage, starting at the field before the plant ever grows.

No hazardous agrochemicals

Synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers classified as hazardous are excluded. The standard prioritises farming practices that protect soil health and the surrounding ecosystem.

Verified organic content percentage

OCS independently audits and certifies the exact percentage of organic material in the finished garment. When a garment claims 100% organic cotton, OCS means that claim has been checked and verified at every handoff in the production chain.

Full supply chain traceability

Transaction certificates are issued at every step of production — ginning, spinning, knitting, dyeing, finishing. There are no gaps in the paper trail between the cotton field and the finished garment.

Ecological and social criteria combined

GOTS doesn't only cover environmental factors. It includes social standards for workers throughout the certified supply chain — fair wages, safe conditions, and freedom of association.

OEKO-TEX chemical safety on top

Every certified blank additionally carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — confirming the finished fabric is free from substances harmful to health, even those not yet legally restricted under EU REACH.

Which MOEBEER products are made from certified organic cotton?

Three products carry full GOTS and OCS organic certification: our entire Oversized T-Shirt collection (Stanley/Stella SATU020), the Women's Organic Stella Nora Hoodie (SASW035), and the Women's Organic Stella Alma Sweatshirt (SASW036). All three hold both certifications.

What is the difference between GOTS and OCS?

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the most comprehensive — it covers the entire supply chain from raw fibre to finished garment, including both ecological and social criteria. OCS (Organic Content Standard) specifically verifies and tracks the percentage of organic material in a finished product, ensuring the claim is accurate and audited at every handoff. Together they give a complete, independently verified picture of a garment's organic credentials.

Does MOEBEER hold the GOTS or OCS certification?

No — and we'll always be clear about that. Both certifications are held by Stanley/Stella, the Belgian manufacturer of the blank garments we print and sell. The products are certified; MOEBEER is the brand. You can verify Stanley/Stella's certificates directly on their certifications page.

Are the garments free from harmful chemicals?

Yes. All Stanley/Stella certified blanks also hold OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — independently confirming the finished fabric contains no chemical substances harmful to human health or the environment, including substances not yet legally restricted under EU REACH regulation.

Do all MOEBEER products use organic cotton?

Not all — only the three products listed on this page carry GOTS and OCS certification. Our tailored fit t-shirts use a different cotton blend, and our standard hoodies and sweatshirts use a cotton/polyester blend. Fabric details for every product are clearly listed on each product page.
